Benjamin EASLEY

Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal, APRIL 28, 1918

Benjamin Easley, son of Joseph W. and Lucinda J. Easley was born September 27, 1859, died April 28, 1918, aged 67 years, 7 months and one day. He was united in marriage to Sarah F. Whittington, February 27, 1873. To this union were born three daughters, Dora, who died when a little less than two years old, Hattie E. Coons and Mary G. Davis. Sarah F. Easley, the wife of his youth died April 22, 1886. He was again married to Melvina G. Galey October 4, 1887, who died May 11th, 1912. Ben Easley, as he was familiarly known, was a honest and industrious man. He was unassuming and unpretentious: was well known in this and adjoining counties, and his friends were numbered by his acquaintances. He had, if any enemies, perhaps as few as any person. His dealings with the people were fair and honest. Though he never united with any Church, he had a high regard for it and due reverence for its members. He was a good companion, a kind neighbor, and a loving father. He leaves to mourn his loss, one brother, Tilghman Easley, two sisters, Sarah K. Rice, and Lucinda F. Rice, the two daughters above named, and a large circle of friends and relatives. The funeral was held at the home of the daughter, Mary E. Davis, conducted by Elder J. H. Oliphant, Aa quartet composed of Mrs. Carl Wray, Mrs.Berniece Seaman, Albert Armatrout, and J. D. VanCleave sang. The remains were buried in Indian Creek Cemetery. A large attendance was present. - kbz
